About
May Family Farms
Our Farm
Rooted in history. Driven by quality. Committed to the land.
Our Story

May Family Farms began with a vision of opportunity and perseverance. In 1886, Heinrich “Henry” May claimed 160 acres in Northwest Decatur County, Kansas, under the Homestead Act of 1862. Alongside his father-in-law, Henry Stier—who claimed an adjacent 160 acres through the Timber Culture Act of 1873—they worked the land with hope and determination, laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to thrive today.

For 139 years, through five generations, our family has proudly called this land home. The original quarter section Henry May settled, located 10 miles west and 1 mile north of Oberlin, remains the heart of our operations to this day.

What We Do

Today, May Family Farms is a multi-generational farm and ranch operation, dedicated to excellence in every aspect of our work.

Our primary focus includes:
-
Certified Seed Wheat Production: We grow and sell high-quality, certified seed wheat that meets rigorous standards and supports the agricultural success of our region.
-
Premium Local Beef: We raise exceptional beef cattle, providing locally sourced, high-quality meat you can trust.
In addition, we cultivate a diverse range of feed crops, including cane, corn, milo, oats/peas, and triticale.

Our Commitment

At May Family Farms, quality is not just a goal—it’s a principle we live by. Whether producing seed, raising beef cattle, or growing feed crops, we are committed to responsible practices, sustainability, and providing products our customers can count on.

Farming isn’t just our livelihood—it’s our way of life. It has taught us resilience, responsibility, and the importance of legacy. We are proud to continue our family’s tradition and contribute to the future of American agriculture.
