How to Buy our Beef
We sell individual cuts of beef directly off the farm and also have beef available for sale in downtown Oberlin at Prairie Petals. Contact us to visit our farm or stop by Prairie Petals to see what we have available.

We also sell bulk beef by the 1/4, 1/2, or whole. We reserve locker spots year-round at 3 local lockers, including Ben Lee Processing in Atwood, Grinnell Locker in Grinnell, and Willow Creek Meats in McCook. Our Cattle Herd
May Family Farms has been raising cattle with a quality focus since its founding in 1886. What started as a Hereford cattle herd saw introductions of the Black Angus breed in the late 1970s, the Braunvieh breed in 2002, and the Galloway breed in 2019 to form the 4-way cross that we continue to improve to this day. While the current cross is heavily influenced by the Black Angus breed, the other three breeds contribute specific strengths to our cattle herd.
We are a cow/calf, backgrounding, and finishing operation, meaning our cattle spend their entire lives on our farm and pastures in Decatur and Rawlins counties. They are bred, born, raised, and fed under our care at May Family Farms.

Our cattle are grass-raised and grain-finished. They spend their first 7 months in our pastures grazing grass before moving home to our feedlot. They then eat a tailored ration of corn, ground hay, mineral, protein, and silage. We produce a majority of our own feed and purchase what we can't produce from reputable, local sources. Our cattle do not receive any implants, hormones, or antibiotics.
